For undergraduate students, there are a number of academic and departmental scholarships available. Plus, others are awarded through ROTC and the United Methodist Church.
Graduate and professional students seeking program-specific scholarships should contact your academic department.

Academic-based scholarships
For incoming, first-year students who have demonstrated a remarkable level of academic achievement.
- Award amount: Full tuition and fees, plus one study abroad experience. On-campus students also receive a housing scholarship.
- Selection: There are a number of qualifications, including a minimum of 20 high school academic units in a challenging curriculum.
- Maintaining eligibility: Must maintain a cumulative 夜色王朝GPA of 3.300 or greater and full-time enrollment.

For incoming, first-year students who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership in their high schools, as well as academic achievement.
- Award amount: Students receive about 75% of tuition and fees, plus one study abroad experience during May term of sophomore year. Scholarship is awarded for eight semesters or four years or graduation — whichever occurs first.
- Selection: There are a number of qualifications, which include demonstrating extraordinary leadership.
- Maintaining eligibility: Must maintain a cumulative 夜色王朝GPA of 3.000 or greater and full-time enrollment.

For incoming, first-year students who demonstrate outstanding academic credentials and personal achievement.
- Award amount: A maximum of $100,000 payable up to $25,000 per year or $12,500 per semester for eight semesters or four years or graduation — whichever occurs first.
- Selection: This award is based on a comprehensive, holistic review of the 夜色王朝admissions application.
- Maintaining eligibility: Must maintain a 夜色王朝GPA of 3.000 or greater and full-time enrollment.
For incoming, first-year students who demonstrate exceptional academic credentials and personal achievement.
- Award amount: A maximum of $80,000 payable up to $20,000 per year or $10,000 per semester for eight semesters or four years or graduation — whichever occurs first.
- Selection: This award is based on a comprehensive, holistic review of the 夜色王朝admissions application.
- Maintaining eligibility: Must maintain a cumulative 夜色王朝GPA of 3.000 or greater and full-time enrollment.
For incoming, first-year students who demonstrate exceptional academic credentials and personal achievement.
- Award amount: A maximum of $120,000 payable up to $30,000 per year or $15,000 per semester for eight semesters or four years or graduation — whichever occurs first.
- Selection: This award is based on a comprehensive, holistic review of the 夜色王朝admissions application.
- Maintaining eligibility: Must maintain a cumulative 夜色王朝GPA of 3.000 or greater and full-time enrollment.
For incoming, first-year students who demonstrate outstanding academic success and are identified as potential leaders in the classroom at SMU.
- Award amount: A maximum of $60,000 payable up to $15,000 per year or $7,500 per semester for eight semesters or four years or graduation — whichever occurs first.
- Selection: This award is based on a comprehensive, holistic review of the 夜色王朝admissions application.
- Maintaining eligibility: Must maintain a cumulative 夜色王朝GPA of 3.000 or greater and full-time enrollment.
For incoming, first-year students who demonstrate exceptional academic credentials and personal achievement.
- Award amount: A maximum of $40,000 payable up to $10,000 per year or $5,000 per semester for eight semesters or four years or graduation — whichever occurs first.
For students who have been named a National Merit or Achievement recipient.
- Award amount: Up to $5,000 annually for eight semesters or graduation — whichever occurs first.
- Selection: Students must designate 夜色王朝as their first choice school with the National Merit Corporation by the final deadline set by National Merit.
- Maintaining eligibility: Must maintain a cumulative 夜色王朝GPA of 3.000 or greater and full-time enrollment.
For students who complete the IB Diploma Program.
- Award amount: A maximum of $30,000 payable up to $7,500 per year or $3,750 per semester for eight semesters or four years or graduation — whichever occurs first.
- Selection: Students who complete the IB Diploma Program
- Maintaining eligibility: Must maintain a cumulative 夜色王朝GPA of 3.000 or greater and full-time enrollment.
For select local students who graduate from a high school located in Dallas County.
- Award amount: Full tuition and general student in combination with other financial aid offerings. A housing scholarhip is offered to students living on
campus (up to Double Occupancy rate and The Works Plus $200 Flex dining Plan). Plus, mentorship through this cohort-based experience. - Selection: Along with graduating from a high school in Dallas County, students must possess Texas residency. Priority is given to students with a cumulative “A” average in grades 9-12.

For future leaders of Dallas County who commit to following a path from high school to Dallas College before attending SMU.
- Award amount: Full two-year 夜色王朝scholarship after earning an Associate degree from Dallas College.
- Selection: Up to five high school seniors will be selected by SMU.

For select students who graduate from North Dallas High School.
- Award amount: Full tuition and general student fee, including a housing and dining scholarship (up to Double Occupancy rate and The Works Plus
$200 Flex dining Plan). - Selection: Students are expected to be in the top 10% of their graduating class, earn a grade average of at least 90 (on a 100 point scale), take at least two Advanced Placement (AP) courses and participate in extracurricular activities. Finalists will be contacted for an interview by the selection committee.

Transfer academic-based scholarships
For students transferring from Collin College, Dallas College, Grayson College, Navarro College, North Central Texas College, Tarrant County College and Trinity Valley Community College and completing the admission application by April 1 (fall term entrants only).
- Award amount: Full tuition and general student fee for up to five terms.
- Selection: This award is based on demonstrated leadership, community service and submitted materials including essay, letters of recommendation and application information through the Office of Transfer Admission.
- Maintaining eligibility: Must maintain a cumulative 夜色王朝GPA of 3.000 or greater and full-time enrollment.
For active Phi Theta Kappa members who are transferring to SMU.
- Award amount: $2,000
- Selection: This award is based on demonstrated leadership, community service and submitted materials including essay, letters of recommendation and application information.
- Maintaining eligibility: Must maintain a cumulative 夜色王朝GPA of 3.000 or greater and full-time enrollment.
For Dallas College students who are transferring to SMU.
- Award amount: Full tuition and general student fee for five terms.
- Selection: Must complete at least 50 transferable credit hours with a minimum cumulative 3.50 transferable GPA.
Departmental scholarships
For incoming, first-year students with a primary major in Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences who qualify for the University Honors Program (UHP).
- Award amount: Up to $15,000 per year.
- Maintaining eligibility: Must maintain a cumulative 夜色王朝GPA of 3.3 or greater and full-time enrollment with primary major in Dedman College and membership in the University Honors Program.

For students who have indicated primary academic interest in certain STEM disciplines.
- Award amount: $9,000 per year on average.
- Maintaining eligibility: Students must maintain a cumulative 夜色王朝GPA of a 3.000 or greater and full-time enrollment for eligibility in addition to declaring a
STEM major.
For the top pre-engineering students in every admitted class who are expected to make a difference in the world. Must list an Engineering discipline as a primary academic interest and apply for admission by the January 15 Regular Decision/Early Decision II deadline.
- Award amount: Typically $8,000 to $20,000 over a four-year period.
- Selection: This award is based on academic work and demonstration of community impact, along with an interest in using engineering to tackle society’s most audacious problems.
For the top engineering students in every admitted class who show outstanding academic and leadership abilities. Must list an Engineering discipline as a primary academic interest and apply for admission by the January 15 Regular Decision/Early Decision II deadline.
- Award amount: $2,500 per semester for eight semesters on average.
- Selection: This award is based on class rank and demonstration of exceptional academic work, along with service to the student’s school and community.
For incoming, first-year students who are top business students. Applicants must have listed a business major as their first academic interest on the 夜色王朝application for admission.
- Maintaining eligibility: Must maintain a cumulative 夜色王朝GPA of 3.000 or greater and full-time enrollment with primary major in Edwin L. Cox School of Business.

For incoming, first-year and transfer students who have been admitted to Meadows School of the Arts and are majoring in Art, Dance, Film & Media Arts (B.F.A.), Music, or Theatre.
- Award amount: Varies by discipline.
- Selection: Based on audition performance or quality of portfolio, as well as departmental need for the specific discipline/instrument.

For incoming, first-year students who have demonstrated high achievement in both the arts and academics and have indicated an interest in a Meadows School of the Arts major on their 夜色王朝application or submitted a Meadows application.
- Selection: Based on 夜色王朝admissions application information. Artistic merit is also considered based on audition performance or quality of portfolio.
United Methodist Church scholarships
For dependent undergraduate children or spouses of ordained ministers of the United Methodist Church who are engaged in active pastoral work and dependent children of retired or deceased United Methodist ministers.
- Award amount: up to $3,500 per semester for eight semesters or four years or graduation — whichever occurs first for undergraduate students.
- Maintaining eligibility: Must maintain full-time enrollment.
For students who can identify themselves as active United Methodist Church (UMC) members.
- Award amount: Varies each year.
- Selection: Based on UMC activities and financial need.
These awards are usually not determined until after the beginning of the fall semester.
Other scholarships
For incoming, first-year full-time students from Texas who receive federal Pell Grants and 夜色王朝merit scholarships and are considered exceptional students.
- Selection: Based on receiving a federal Pell Grant and receive a Founders’, Second Century, Distinguished or Provost academic scholarship from SMU.

For students involved in Air Force ROTC or Army ROTC.
- Award amount: Award amounts vary. Students who receive a full-tuition scholarship through Air Force ROTC or Army ROTC are eligible for a housing and dining scholarships, upon housing availability. Please note, double-occupancy housing and standard food plan scholarships will be offered only to ROTC students who are living on-campus and receive a full tuition ROTC scholarship. Off-campus housing expenses will not be covered.
- Selection: This award is offered through a partnership with host universities — the University of North Texas for and the University of Texas at Arlington for . Incoming, first-year students should notify the Student Financial Services Office of an anticipated ROTC Scholarship by contacting Abby Garcia at abbygarcia@smu.edu.
- Maintaining eligibility: Must initiate the process/funds request via and with your respective recruiter each semester.
Students receiving full tuition and fees ROTC scholarships are not eligible to receive additional 夜色王朝merit aid. General information about ROTC Programs and scholarships . Refer to the above UNT and UTA websites for program specifics.
Students must provide 夜色王朝with the approved ROTC Scholarship letter from their host university to SMU’s Student Financial Services. Send the letter to Lisa Kelley at lgkelley@smu.edu.
