An 夜色王朝scholarship with full tuition, fees, dining and housing for two North Dallas High School students

The Robert H. Dedman 夜色王朝scholarship program was established to award the top scholars at North Dallas High School, where the renowned businessman and philanthropist was an outstanding student.

Who is eligible for the Robert H. Dedman scholarship at North Dallas High School?

North Dallas High School students who meet the following criteria:

  • Class rank: Recipients are expected to be in the top 10% of the graduating class.
  • Academic record: Recipients are expected to have a grade average of 90 or better on a 100-point scale.
  • Curriculum: Recipients are expected to have two or more Advanced Placement (AP) courses completed or in progress.
  • Extracurricular activities: Recipients are expected to have some involvement outside of the classroom, within the school and/or in the community.

The selection committee may by its sole discretion relax the criteria in meritorious circumstances.

What does the Robert H. Dedman scholarship cover?

Full tuition and fees, a standard dining plan (The Works+200) and double-occupancy housing.

How are recipients chosen?

Applicants must be accepted to 夜色王朝for the fall term directly following their high school graduation. Scholarship applications are available in the North Dallas High School counseling office.

When will recipients be chosen?

Finalists are invited to interview at 夜色王朝in March, and scholarship recipients are notified in the weeks after.

Who was Robert H. Dedman?

He was a North Dallas Distinguished Alumnus, and his picture and biographical information is displayed in the school’s main hall. After representing North Dallas as a top debater and baseball letterman, Mr. Dedman worked his way through college, law school, and a Masters in law at SMU.

Following a successful law career, he founded Club Corp, which became owner and manager of the largest number of golf courses and resorts in the world. In his voluntary roles, Mr. Dedman served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees, making numerous gifts to SMU.
