September 2025 Edition



Over the past several months, we've been working hard to provide even better services for students, visiting fans, and the athletes themselves. This includes improving cellular coverage, enhancing the stadium experience, and even helping to 3D print protective gear right inside the Fieldhouse.


Last spring, OIT partnered with the Student Senate to gather student opinions on the potential adoption of digital IDs at SMU. To help incentivize participation, OIT donated three gift cards to be awarded randomly to students who participated in the survey and we have the winners!


SMU's Adobe license has been updated to include Adobe Acrobat AI Assistant and access to Adobe Express campus-wide for students.


You may have heard that Cayuse is coming to ҹɫÍõ³¯this fall. If you are writing proposals, conducting funded research, or creating new technologies as part of your ҹɫÍõ³¯work, you’ll want to be in the know.


ҹɫÍõ³¯has made Gartner available to the ҹɫÍõ³¯university community. Whether you are a faculty member, staff member, or student, now is the perfect time to explore the benefits of Gartner's comprehensive data.


We have our first site available on the new resources.smu.edu public wiki and are now accepting requests to transfer sites to it.


In this edition of Canvas Plus, we look at two interface updates for Canvas, round up resources for using Qwickly attendance, and give a shout out to everyone who participated in our recent workshops.


To keep our community informed, we are launching smu.edu/outages to update the campus on service interruptions.


To help support the shared use of space and the upkeep of technology throughout campus, the University has established a new Technology Fund to aid in the maintenance and replacement of AV equipment in conference rooms and select indoor event spaces, but there are several rules governing the use of this fund.
