Matt Porter is a Texas-based educator, designer and sociocultural anthropologist. As principal researcher of Social Redress, his interdisciplinary work focuses on fashion’s intersection with politics and labor by blending qualitative research, creative practice, and local partnerships to generate actionable insights towards designing a better American culture. His recent scholarly works include: "Adorned in American Dreams: Cultural Memory & the Style of the American Far-Right" (forthcoming, International Journal of Fashion Studies); "Black, white, and read all over: Is wearing a keffiyeh enough for Palestinian justice?" (2024, Cultural Studies) and "Institutional and Industrial Reflections on Fashion Education (2025, Media, Arts, Design Education+).

Porter graduated from the University of North Texas with a B.A. in art and design and has earned an M.A. in fashion studies from Parsons School of Design and an M.A. in anthropology from University of California, Irvine.
