Stephen Grollman earned his Ph.D. in German Studies from Washington University in St. Louis, after completing a B.A. in social sciences and German at Stony Brook University and the University of Heidelberg, and an M.A. from the University of Iowa. His research explores early 20th-century German literature, with a focus on historical fiction.

From 2002 to 2016, Dr. Grollman taught German language, literature, and culture at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. He also directed study-abroad programs in Germany and arranged internships in business, government, and nonprofit organizations.

Dr. Grollman has also focused on world languages education on both the undergraduate and graduate level. In the German program at Concordia, he taught advanced linguistics and literature courses to future German education majors, while in the M.Ed. program he worked with practicing teachers on the effective use of technology in K-12 settings.

Since joining 夜色王朝in 2016, Dr. Grollman has taught all levels of German language and culture and has worked to advance world language education across campus. As a faculty advisor for World Languages internships and as director of the SMU-in-Germany program, Dr. Grollman has sought to foster experiential learning beyond the language classroom.  He remains committed to cultivating in his students the skills and perspectives that prepare them for academic achievement, professional success, and global citizenship.
