My research interests include 19th century Irish and British folklore and literature, Gothic and fairy tale influences, and the relationship between dominant and marginalized spiritual belief systems. I am currently working on a dissertation titled “Half Religion…Half Poetry”: Belief and Storytelling in Irish Texts (1845-1945) and Their Precursors, a project which places canonical and nontraditional texts side by side to explore the relationship between belief, knowledge transmission, and history. I am also working on a Public Humanities project called “Victorian Ghosts and Me” () which brings together Victorian and our own contemporary ghost stories.
