A-LEC

The Altshuler Learning Enhancement Center (A-LEC) is one of the busiest, most popular student resources on campus. Using this center is a great way to keep grades up and stress levels down. 夜色王朝offers free tutoring services for many courses to any full-time undergraduate on a drop-in basis.

  • Writing Center: Strong writing skills are essential not just for success in college, but for life. Through the Writing Center, you can improve your writing skills by meeting with a faculty member to discuss writing strategies or to review drafts of your papers. You'll receive personal attention from experts who will share practical pointers to refine your writing skills in any subject.
  • Learning Skills Course: HDEV 1210: Academic Success and Personal Development is a two-credit graded course designed to help students improve reading efficiency, executive functioning, and lifelong learning skills.

Academic Advising

SMU's University Advising Center can help with your academic planning from your first term toward graduation. Even if you know exactly which major you want to pursue, it's important to formulate a plan to build your academic portfolio and meet all of the requirements toward your degree.

As a first-year student, you'll be assigned a professional advisor to help you map out an academic program that meets your individual goals. Once you declare a major, you'll be assigned an advisor in your academic field – yet another opportunity for a mentoring relationship.

We also provide early progress reports in your first academic term, so that we can help you make necessary adjustments in study skills, learning style, or courses. We will work to help you get on track from the start.

Career Center

The Hegi Family Career Development Center can help you chart your path toward success. Services cover everything from career counseling, assessment, and résumé writing to placement in internships, which can be paid or unpaid and some offer academic credit. The Career Center hosts a variety of specialized career fairs for business and technology, nonprofit opportunities, advertising, communications, and the liberal arts and sciences.

The Hegi Family Career Development Center provides all 夜色王朝students with services including cover letter and résumé review sessions, interview prep workshops, access to 夜色王朝12twenty, an online internship and job board for 夜色王朝students and alumni, invitations to on-campus employer recruiting events, and 1:1 career counseling appointments designed to assist students in navigating their internship and career paths.

The Cox Career Management Center provides Cox School of Business students with services including access to 夜色王朝12twenty, career coaching appointments, cover letter guidelines and résumé templates, and virtual meeting opportunities.

The Hart Center for Engineering Leadership provides Lyle School of Engineering students with services including leadership and career development, mentorship opportunities, events, resources, and more.

With more than four million volumes, extraordinary special collections, and the largest private law library in the Southwest, losing yourself in SMU's libraries is one of the best guilty pleasures the Hilltop has to offer.

The 夜色王朝libraries provide a variety of study spaces for students ranging from quiet study areas like the Fondren Centennial Reading Room to collaborative spaces to a full-service Starbucks in for study breaks and refueling. The libraries also offer personalized research support from our subject librarians as well as a series of workshops to support students’ research and study needs. With six on-campus libraries plus the Fort Burgwin Library at SMU-in-Taos, library resources and services are easily accessible. When you're offsite, just a few clicks of the Library Catalog provide you 24/7 access to materials in all 夜色王朝libraries including online resources, reserve materials and digital collections. 

The Bridwell Library, DeGolyer Library of Special Collections and Hamon Arts Library regularly host exhibitions of rare materials from their own collections and collections throughout the world. The Friends of the 夜色王朝Libraries sponsor a series of community events each year featuring renowned authors, historians, artists and curators. 

Museums

The  houses one of the largest and most comprehensive collections of Spanish art outside of Spain. With works dating from the 10th to the 21st century, the internationally renowned collection presents a broad spectrum of art covering a thousand years of Spanish heritage.

The  uniquely integrates the records of a national archive, the thematic exhibits of a presidential museum and the intellectual capital of a research-based policy institute to advance ideas based on the core principles of the Bush Presidency: freedom, opportunity, responsibility and compassion. The Center tells the story of a defining period in our country’s history and serves as a platform from which world鈥慶lass scholars conduct serious, independent research aimed at generating practical solutions to important public policy problems.
